CHAMPIONS! Newhaven Ladies win Eastbourne FA Cup

Newhaven Ladies last night claimed the club’s first silverware of the season, with a resounding 5-1 victory in the final of the Eastbourne FA Cup.

Up against league rivals Bexhill United at Eastbourne Town’s The Saffrons ground, the Dockers blew their opponents away with three goals in a blistering opening 20-minute salvo.

Strikes from Jamie Quinn, captain Lauren Smith and top-scorer Chloe Evans put Newhaven into a dominant position early-on.

Although Bexhill responded with a goal of their own in the 23rd minute, the Dockers kept their composure to take a two-goal advantage into the interval.

In the second-half, Newhaven added two further goals. First Chelsea Cook extended the team’s lead in the 54th minutes, before Charlotte Markham added the icing on the cake in the 90th minute from the penalty spot.

Cue joyous celebrations for the club’s players, managers, officials, and supporters.

The Cup triumph is just reward for Andy Cook’s side, who have been firing on all cylinders in recent months.

Since the turn of the year, the female Dockers have tasted defeat just three-times in 13 games; and even one of those only came in extra-time against the league leaders of the northern section of the London and South East Regional Women’s League.

With two league games of the season still remaining, Newhaven have guaranteed themselves a top seven finish, and could yet potentially climb higher.

The Dockers round-off their season with two home fixtures – on 16th April and 30th April. Matches take place at Fort Road (14:00 kick offs). It would be great to see as many of you there as possible to celebrate and congratulate our cup-winning team’s efforts over the past season.

Come On You Dockers!

Goals galore as Dockers win again

Newhaven 6 Lingfield 3, SCLF Premier Division match #15, Saturday 8 th November 2025 Having bounced back to winning ways with a win at Lancing seven days ago, Newhaven hoped to keep the run going with a match against another team at the wrong end of the table yesterday. However, as is often the case when we seem to face strugglers, Lingfield had played themselves into a bit of form last weekend, winning 2-1 against play-off contenders Bexhill United. And it was the visitors who made the perfect start yesterday afternoon, taking the lead inside the opening minute. Needless to say, we only had ourselves to blame, as a loose pass was seized upon by Deven Reid-Solanki and the skillful winger made no mistake, driving forward before finding the bottom corner with a calm finish. Reid-Solanki was to cause us numerous problems throughout the afternoon, giving one of the best individual performances I’ve seen from an opposition player at Fort Road. Fortunately, though, he was just about...

Defeat but promising signs for young Dockers

South Park Reigate 2 Newhaven 1, FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round, Saturday 2 nd August 2025 What a difference 12-months makes. This time last year, the Dockers went into the new season among the favourites for promotion having brought in a string of high-profile (for the level) names. Alas, for one reason or another, it was an experiment that went wrong quite quickly, and one that has prompted a complete rethink on how best to approach the new campaign. Fast forward a year, and we enter the 2025/26 season with rather less of an idea of quite what to expect. To describe the current squad as youthful is probably understating things. Aside from Lee Robinson and (the currently injured) Bailie Rogers, the next most senior member of the team in terms of experience is Ryan Blunt, at the age of just 20! Unusually, this season’s curtain raiser was an FA Cup match rather than the traditional league encounter, with the Dockers travelling to Surrey to take on higher division South Park R...

Sizzling second-half sinks Seaford

Newhaven 5 Seaford Town 1, Sussex Senior Challenge Cup Round Two, Tuesday 7 th October 2025 Local derbies are hard enough. Local derbies when you’re coming off the back of a heavy defeat, while your opponents have plundered 10 goals in their last two games are harder still. Yet that was the challenge facing Newhaven last night as neighbours Seaford visited Fort Road in a cup competition for the second time this season. In the last meeting between the two sides back in early September, Newhaven breezed past ‘The Harriers’ 2-0 in the Peter Bentley Cup. Since that meeting, though, Seaford’s form has improved and they came into the game with four wins from seven games in all competitions. Indeed, this confidence was on show in the early stages last night as Seaford showed their willingness to go toe-to-toe with the Dockers. While Newhaven were certainly producing the tidier, more eye-catching football, it was the visitors who created the better chances; the best of the early one...
