Consecutive victories at last for dominant Dockers

Newhaven 3 Forest Row 0, SCFL Premier Division match #33, Saturday 28 th March 2026 After a ten-day break, Newhaven began a run of four games in nine days with a home league fixture against Forest Row on Saturday. It was a match that gave the Dockers a chance to finally put to bed the win-a-game/lose-a-game sequence that has plagued them for much of 2026. Having beaten Lingfield last time out, Newhaven would have been confident of gaining three-points against a Row side who we had already beaten twice this season, and who have tasted victory just once in any competition since the turn of the year. However, both teams looked equally nervous in an error-strewn opening ten-minutes in which the ball was repeatedly given away needlessly. Newhaven created the first half-chance of the match, when Ryan Blunt’s inviting low free-kick found Lee Robinson in space, but the striker couldn’t get enough purchase on the ball to guide it goalwards. Seconds later, Row had what would probably ...

Encouraging signs as Newhaven return to winning ways

Forest Row 2 Newhaven 4, SCFL Premier Division match #18, Saturday 29 th November 2025 Looking to banish the disappointment of last week’s derby defeat against Seaford, Newhaven travelled to Forest Row (or Three Bridges to be exact) looking to bounce back against a fellow play-off contender. Although we had beaten Row earlier in the season in the County Cup, this is a very different Forest Row side from that one. Having started the season on fire, the hosts have slipped slightly in recent weeks, losing four in a row before halting the slide with a 3-0 win against Little Common last time out. With illness having depleted the Dockers ranks somewhat, it was an unfamiliar starting 11 that took to the field for us on Saturday, with a number of players playing out of position; especially in the back four. Yet the game could not have got off to a better start for us. Perfect would be probably an understatement. Within a minute we took the lead. Lee Robinson was clipped just outside...

Promising display sees Dockers advance

Newhaven 2 Forest Row 0, Sussex Senior Cup Round 1, Tuesday 9 th September 2025 The first in a run of three consecutive cup matches took place last night with Forest Row’s visit to Fort Road in the opening round of the Sussex Senior Cup. Newly promoted Forest Row have enjoyed a positive start at a higher level, although did arrive in Newhaven on the back of a hefty defeat to title favourites Haywards Heath on Saturday. With the Dockers missing a few key players, this was arguably Newhaven’s toughest test so far this season. A real test to see exactly where we are at. Having scraped to three points on Saturday after a largely unconvincing performance at struggling Wick, it was almost certain a similar showing would get punished last night. Fortunately, last night saw a much-improved Dockers performance. Arguably their finest of the campaign so far. It was without doubt the best game to watch involving Newhaven this year as well, with both teams looking to play good football, ...
