An afternoon to forget for the Dockers

Lancing 3 Newhaven 1, SCFL Premier Division Match #6, Saturday 5 th September 2026 Warning. Spoiler alert. This is not going to be the longest blog I’ve ever written. Nor is it going to be the most enjoyable. Not, that is, if you are of a Newhaven persuasion. The Dockers travelled to Lancing on Saturday keen to put Monday’s first league defeat of the season firmly behind them. We may have been beaten 5-1 by Haywards Heath on the Bank Holiday, but that defeat wasn’t anywhere near as bad as the scoreline may suggest. In fact, up until the final 25 minutes of that game, we’d been well in it, before it quickly unravelled late-on. With a (mostly) young Lancing team having only taken three points from their opening six matches, hopes were high that Newhaven could bounce quickly back to form with a morale-boosting win. Needless to say, that’s not what happened. There can be no denying that, to a man, the Dockers were miles off it on Saturday. Lancing simply looked hungrier th...

A comfortable win for inconsistent Dockers

Newhaven 3 Lancing 0, SCFL Premier Division match #30, Saturday 28th February 2026 It says much about the Docker’s current form that since the turn of the year (cup-games aside) we haven’t yet managed to win back-to-back games. The flip-side of that, though, is that we haven’t lost two on the spin either. So having lost last weekend, we were due a win this weekend, right? (Or a draw at the very least). With bottom-placed Lancing the visitors to Fort Road, confidence was high that we’d once again be able to bounce back from defeat last weekend. However, many of the Fort Road faithful who have followed Newhaven for a few seasons or more will have been only too aware that we’re not adverse to slipping on the odd banana skin when it comes to facing struggling teams. Nothing would be taken for granted. Having failed to score in their past four matches, Lancing have signed a few new players in recent weeks to try and assist in their struggles in front of goal. After 20 minu...

Dockers back to winning ways

Lancing 1 Newhaven 3, SCFL Premier Division match #14, Saturday 1 st November 2025 After a tough October which saw the Dockers play a host of league fixtures against teams who are likely to be vying for the play-offs, they started November with a trip to bottom-of-the-table Lancing. However, while on paper this may looked a more straightforward assignment, the reality was very different. Under new management, Lancing have shown clear signs of improvement in recent weeks, and went into the game on the back of a morale-boosting 5-2 victory over Shoreham. The Dockers, on the other hand, had lost their past three matches, shipping 11 goals in the process. Yet it was Newhaven who made the brighter start, hitting the front after just two minutes. Harry Hammond intercepted a clearance, threaded the ball into the path of Ryan Blunt, and Blunty found the bottom corner from the edge of the area. Newhaven continued to be on the ascendancy for much of the early exchanges, continually ...
